Following the success of our Live Streaming last Sunday via the Zoom App, our Palm Sunday service will be broadcast in the same way on Sunday 5th April at 10:30am BST. This service will have many of the usual elements including Songs to sing along to, a Bible reading followed by a sermon and of course prayers. If anyone would like to join us, you will need to download the Zoom App onto your PC, Mac, iPad or other internet connected device. We will be able to see you too if you would like to share your video with the rest of us. If you would like to join us for this service, please let us know on the contact sheet below so that we have your correct email address to send the link to the Zoom Meeting.
Lent this year commenced on Ash Wednesday on 26th February and will last until Easter. What have you given up this year for Lent? We must remember why we give up things for Lent. Jesus spent 40 days and nights in the wilderness being tempted by the Devil and he resisted every temptation.
Spring Churchyard Tidy
A great thank you to all those who turned up on a Sunny Saturday morning (21st March) in the Churchyard of St James. The footpath to Cross House is looking better than it has for a long time, and all the hard work the team put in was well worth the effort. Young and old were there, maintaining their distance of course, but it shows the community spirit is there in SPADES! (Pardon the pun.)
Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) – Sunday 5th April Now Postponed
This years Annual Parochial Church Meeting has been postponed until further notice. Given the current circumstances, the Church of England has extended the usual deadline for an APCM till at least the end of October 2020. This could indeed be extended further given circumstances at the time. Please check this Website for any changes to this situation.
For those who would like to make proposals, to vote for office holders and to vote on any other proposals that may be considered, you will need to be included on the Church Electoral Roll. If you are on the Roll already, you do not need to do anything unless any circumstances have changed. If you are not already on the roll, you may put your name forward for inclusion by completing a form, copies of which are available at the back of the church and also in the entrance hall of Cross House. If you have any questions about your eligibility you will find guidance on the form but feel free to speak to John Lenton, Steve Day, Ian Evett or any other member of the PCC.
