This Sunday, we continue our series studying the first seven chapters of Paul’s magnificent letter to the Romans. In this letter Paul lays out the length and breadth of the Christian gospel message, underlining God’s love for the human race, despite our constant tendency to go our own way, turning our backs on God and His purpose for our lives. This is the letter which took Martin Luther from the depths of spiritual despair over his own sinfulness to the heights of thankfulness and praise to God, as it showed him how God had rescued people through Jesus Christ from the condemnation we richly deserved. We could even say that this letter is the foundation stone, the written constitution, of the Reformation.
